Coca has been, ancestrally, a sacred leaf. We, the indigenous, have had a profound respect toward it... a respect that includes that we don't "pisar" it (the verb "pisar" means to treat the leaves with a chemical substance, one of the first steps in the production of cocaine). In general, we only use it to acullicar: We chew it during times of war, during ritual ceremonies to salute Mother Earth (the Pachamama) or Father Sun or other Aymara divinities, like the hills. Thus, as an indigenous nation, we have never prostituted Mama Coca or done anything artificial to it because it is a mother. It is the occidentals who have prostituted it. It is they who made it into a drug. This doesn't mean that we don't understand the issue. We know that this plague threatens all of humanity and, from that perspective, we believe that those who have prostituted the coca have to be punished. - former Bolivian guerrilla leader and presidential candidate Felipe Quispe 2002 via Rigorous Intuition (link)

Hemisphere Creep

Now you know what Jack the Ripper meant when he said, to paraphrase From Hell and Alan Moore:

...I ushered in the 20th century....

Actually, I think Thora Birch would have made for a better Whore of Babalon.

Hemisphere Creep

I just get a funny feeling their ´world´ is going to look like a Joe Coleman painting very fucking soon here. And this new generation of children knows it...you can see it in their eyes...deer in the headlights.

By the way...here are a few gifts for our departed contestants:

The Temple of Set Reading List

The OTO & the CIA

The Book of the Law

Hubbard and Black Magick

Atrocity Exhibition
Joy Division

Asylums with doors open wide,
Where people had paid to see inside,
For entertainment they watch his body twist
Behind his eyes he says, 'I still exist.'

This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.

This is the way.
This is the way.
This is the way.
This is the way.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.

You'll see the horrors of a faraway place,
Meet the architects of law face to face.
See mass murder on a scale you've never seen,
And all the ones who try hard to succeed.

This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.

And I picked on the whims of a thousand or more,
Still pursuing the path that's been buried for years,
All the dead wood from jungles and cities on fire,
Can't replace or relate, can't release or repair,

In arenas he kills for a prize,
Wins a minute to add to his life.
But the sickness is drowned by cries for more,
Pray to God, make it quick, watch him fall.

This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.
This is the way, step inside.

Hemisphere Creep

By the way, God, in his infinite wisdom, made humans biologically irrelevant to the life equation on planet Earth. All this ´human centricism´ was getting rather old anyway...

And speaking of orgasms, I don´t think extinction or death would be such a bad thing. Why do you think the French call orgasms Mort d'un petit. Must know something, eh? Maybe death is like an eternal orgasm? Not that I would commit suicide like Ian Curtis or any of those other creative types to find out...

I also found this part of Michael Staley´s essay most amusing:

One of the most disheartening things about Thelema is how often people seem to confuse it with Crowleyanity, the cult of personality. Contrary to the opinion of detractors such as Symonds, it is evident that Crowley could not take seriously those who made this mistake. There is the oft-quoted passage from The Winged Beetle where he speaks scathingly of those who "... come to worship Crowley. Parsons certainly seems to have been devoted to Crowley. His writings, though, reveal that he was more interested in exploring and developing the ramifications of Thelema. Thus he neither confused Thelema with Crowleyanity, nor regarded Crowley as being central to it. In this alone, his work is therefore of special interest to us.

I especially liked this line:

Thus he neither confused Thelema with Crowleyanity, nor regarded Crowley as being central to it.

And I never confused bananas with the United Fruit Company or the Reagan Administration with the genocide that occurred in hundreds of Mayan villages during the 1980s. Or prostitution with organized crime and child slavery...etc etc...

How Black is Black Metal

I wonder how all these so-called 'anarchistic,' goth-industrial, black metal, (whatever they call themselves these days...´alternative'´) people would feel if they found out that their so-called life style and ´spirituality´ had been co-opted by two-bit fascist thugs? They´ve clearly been duped.

Hemisphere Creep

Well, they´d probably just light a cigarette and suck each other off.

Recall also, Scientology is highly regulated in Germany and other countries as a destructive, totalitarian cult.

Hemisphere Creep

The German government considers the Scientology organization a commercial enterprise with a history of taking advantage of vulnerable individuals and an extreme dislike of any criticism. The government is also concerned that the organization's totalitarian structure and methods may pose a risk to Germany's democratic society. Several kinds of evidence have influenced this view of Scientology, including the organization's activities in the United States.

In its March 22, 1995, the Federal Labor Court also found that Scientology utilizes "inhuman and totalitarian practices." Often members are separated from their families and friends. The organization is structured so as to make the individual psychologically and financially dependent on a Scientology system.

In response to numerous petitions, including those from relatives and former members and one signed by over 40,000 concerned citizens, the German Parliament (Bundestag) established a study commission in 1996 to gather factual information on the goals, activities and practices of "so-called sects and psychological groups." The commission included 12 experts from the fields of justice, sociology, psychology, education, religious studies and theology. The commission, which was not focused exclusively on Scientology, neither examined religious and ideological views nor is it preparing a list of groups active in Germany. Following two years of study, in June 1998 the commission issued a final report which included a recommendation that the Office for the Protection of the Constitution keep Scientology under observation. Scientology and Germany:Understanding the German View of Scientology

Dwight D. Eisenhower may be an unlikely candidate to enter into this discussion of ´product´ versus ´producer,´ but some interesting insights are to be found in his Military-Industrial Complex Speech of 1961:

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

Here is another very interesting passage from Staley´s essay:

Controversy has remained over his death. Many regarded it as highly unlikely that a scientist of his experience could so mishandle such a powerful explosive. During those last days he wrote what was probably his last letter, to Karl Germer.

It is bizarre, and merits quoting in full, since it perhaps casts light on his frame of mind at the time:

No doubt, you will be delighted to hear from an adept who has undertaken the operation of his H.G.A. in accord with our traditions. The operation began auspiciously with a chromatic display of pschosomatic symptoms, and progressed rapidly to acute psychosis. The operator has alternated satisfactorily between manic hysteria and depressing melancholy stupor on approximately 40 cycles, and satisfactory progress has been maintained in social ostracism, economic collapses and mental disassociation.

These statements are mentioned not in any vainglorious spirit of conceit, but rather that they may serve as comfort and inspiration to other aspirants on the Path.

Now I'm off to the wilds of Mexico for a period, also in pursuit of the elusive H.G.A. before winding up in the guard (room) finally via the booby hotels, the graveyard, or -- ? If the final, you can tell all the little practicuses that I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

No one. Once called 210.

I´ve read a bit on the invocation and communication with the H.G.A or Holy Guardian Angel in Thelemic theory and practice, but I have never quite read it described as acute psychosis before. I just wanted to bookmark that passage here for future investigation. It´s worth looking at in greater detail as a comparison to, say, the Scientology OT III initiation, which, like all scams and snake oil, is repackaged nonsense stolen from ancient spiritual teachings and exercises--for example, Qi Gong and the concept of Swarm Qi. Actually, I think Parsons´ description above resembles more of an encounter with Choronzon...

Choronzon first appeared in the Enochian writings of John Dee in the 16th century, where he was synonymous with the serpent in the Garden of Eden. Aleister Crowley paraphrased Dee's description of Choronzon as "the first and deadliest of all the powers of evil...rightly so, for although he is not a person, he is the metaphysical contrary of the whole Process of Magick" (1998). In the system of Thelema, Choronzon is the Dweller in the Abyss, that great spiritual wilderness which must be crossed by the adept to attain mastery. Choronzon is there as the final obstruction. If he is met with the proper preparation, then he is there to destroy the ego, which allows the adept to move beyond the Abyss. If unprepared, then the unfortunate traveller will be utterly dispersed into annihilation.
